FAST BOARD HAZMAT OPS COURSE (4-hr)

Prerequisite: Basic FAST Board Operations (BFBO), which can be taken as an 8-hour course in conjunction with this training.

This course is designed for those who have purchased the FAST Drag Blanket Device for HazMat Rescue Intervention Teams (RIT) Operations. It can be taught as a standalone class or combined with the 4-hour Basic FAST Board Operations (BFBO) course. The program will focus on the unique challenges faced by HazMat responders and the application of the FAST Board in HazMat rescue scenarios, covering topics such as:

• Overcoming the challenges of rescuing a downed firefighter in varying levels of personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as rescuing civilians from a hot zone
• Using different configurations of the FAST Board to move equipment in and out of the hot zone
• Techniques for navigating the decontamination corridor

Due to the need for wearing different levels of HazMat PPE during training, participants will require additional time between practice sessions and scenario-based evolutions. With an instructor-to-student ratio of 10:1, each student will receive hands-on instruction and individualized feedback.

Upon successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a certificate of completion, demonstrating their readiness to apply FAST Board techniques in HazMat rescue operations.
